About

Born in Dungannon in 1977, Dominic McNamee is a multidisciplinary artist. He uses Photography, video and sound in his personal practice. Dominic uses photography to explore memory and place, he uses sound to both reinforce and often alter the visual narrative. His work explores the social and anthropological conditions of the self and how we relate to our environment through personal and shared experience utilising traditional photographic practices as well as a pseudo-forensic approach. He endeavours through his work to start a conversation and engage with an audience to evoke similar feelings and emotions to those that he experience when he looks at the work of others. He uses both digital and film media, family archive and ephemera, found sounds, field recordings and old reel to reel recordings, to make connections with his past and present.
