My Beloved Solitude

My Beloved Solitude is a contemplative series of reflective imagery exploring my desire to seek sanctuary through the act of solitude and the joy I take from being alone. I use photography to look deeper into the anthropological conditions of self and how I relate to my environment. What is it that drives us to seek solace in our own thoughts? Why am I driven to seek my own company? For such a social animal we tend to create works of art, literature and poetry which explore these aspects of the human condition and often celebrate them.
My images are made in forested areas, local to me. I make a point of straying off the beaten pathways, the desire lines and open areas and explore as deep into the trees as I can. I use light to represent the found point of sanctuary, the place where I feel truly alone and content.
